We'd love to have you! Rensselaer Central Performing Ensembles6th Grade Band - This class is designed for beginning band students who are just starting to play an instrument. It focuses on the basics and fundamentals of playing music. Students will have the opportunity to perform throughout the year, demonstrating their newly acquired skills.
7th Grade Band - This class is designed as a continuation of 6th grade band. Students will continue to develop their skills and knowledge, applying them to performances throughout the year. 8th Grade Band - This class is designed as a continuation of 7th grade band. Students will continue to develop as musicians and begin applying their skills to more challenging musical pieces. Musical opportunities will begin expanding as students build their abilities. |
High School Band - This class is designed as a continuation of 8th grade band. Students will now perform in a larger group of students grades 9 through 12. Their abilities and skills will be pushed and developed to their full potential as the group plays more challenging music. The high school band performs at many occasions including concerts, contests and school events such as football games and graduation.
Bomber Brigade - The Bomber Brigade is the title of this school's marching band. This organization is part of the high school band curriculum, meaning all high school band students perform in the marching band. Performances include all home football games, traveling to many competitions and contests and an end of the season performance. The Bomber Brigade begins meeting over the summer before each school year and does require practice time outside of school hours once school begins.
Pep Band - Pep Band is the title of this school's basketball band. This ensemble is also part of the high school band curriculum, meaning all high school band students perform. Pep Band performs at 5 Boys games, 5 Girls Games and sometimes performs at extra venues.
Summer Band - This ensemble meets during the summer to continue playing music after the school year is done. It is open to any Middle School band member grades 7 or 8 (Grade level based on the coming school year). Summer Band meets for a 2-3 weeks and then hosts a concert to demonstrate what the students have worked on.
Jazz Band - The Jazz Band is an extra-curricular activity offered after school for any students grades 7 through 12 interested in playing alternative styles of music. The ensemble performs a few times at band concerts throughout the year.
Winterguard - The Winterguard is a an extra-curricular activity offered after school. It is a color guard unit that marches indoors and performs a show during the winter. They compete throughout the season at various locations in the IHSCHA circuit. The group is open to anyone Grades 6-12.
Winter Percussion - This ensemble is an extra-curricular activity that consists of percussion instruments only. The ensemble is auditioned, but is open to any band member Grades 8-12. Winter Percussion competes as well during its season.
